Spatiotemporal Variations and Risk Analysis of Chinese Typhoon Disasters

Typhoons are a product of air-sea interaction, which often accompanied by high winds, heavy rains, and storm surges. It is significant to master the characteristics pattern typhoon activity for warning disaster prevention mitigation. We used Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) index as hazard index; probability exceeding, or reaching, return period exceeding certain threshold was describe occurrence. The results show that overall spatial distribution hazards conforms northeast-southwest zonal distribution, decreasing from southeast coast northwest. Across six typical provinces China assessed here, data Hainan possesses highest risk. Hazard relatively high, mainly distributed between 0.005 0.015, while greater than 0.015 0.15. In light four risk levels accounts largest component study area up 0.0010, all mild levels. Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu well other autonomous regions areas with risks. research can provide important scientific evidence sustainable development China’s coastal cities. outcomes this may also basis future mitigation marine disasters rationalization related insurance.
